Parasomnia is the third monograph of award winning Dutch photographer Viviane Sassen. The photographs are shot throughout West and East Africa and explore the theme of Parasomnia, the sleep disorder in which a person has strange dreams, behaviours and movements.

Viviane Sassen Viviane Sassen was born in 1972 in Amsterdam, and lives and works there. She first studied fashion design followed by photography at Hogeschool voor Kunsten Utrecht and fine art at Ateliers Arnhem. Sassen grew up in East Africa and has been taking photographs on the continent since her first return visit in 2002.

True to form she finds a completely new interpretation, this time focusing on the behind-the-scenes preparation of fashion shoots, capturing the nervous frenzy of stylists, makeup- artists and hairstylists working with Viviane Sassen werkt in de modewereld en in de beeldende kunst.
